Rota Side Table
The Rota Side Table combines the need for a side table and the desire to eat on the sofa. It features a detachable table surface that can be removed and used as a meal tray. The tray can then be set back on the frame at a taller height for a more comfortable dining experience. The top of the stand doubles as a handle, allowing it to be easily carried from the side of the sofa to other parts of the living room.

Rota Side Table features a detachable table top that can be removed and used as a meal tray. The tray can also be set back on the frame at a taller height for a more comfortable dining experience. After a meal, the tray can be lifted, rotated, and set back onto the frame at the standard side table height so as not to obscure the height profile of your living room setup. The top of the frame also doubles as a handle allowing Rota to be easily carried around the living room.
Design Process
The Rota Side Table takes on a user-focused design process. These speakers and speaker stands are no longer in use; one sits in the bedroom mainly as a decoration and a platform to put the tv modem on, while the other is used as a side table in the guest room. However, the speaker stand was not designed for this purpose, the height of the stand is not suitable for a comfortable reach.
The guest room speaker stand also double as a dining table for the sofa when we feel casual and lazy for a regular sit-down meal. While the height of the stand is suitable for dining on the sofa, the weight of it makes it difficult to move from the side to the front, and the stand provides little space for our legs to go.
On the other hand, the side table in the living room suffers from the opposite situation. While height profile is suitable as a side table, it is too low and too small to be used as a sofa dinning table.
